Lynn Mandel
Lynn Mandel started a professional career in dance at the age of 15 in Toronto, performing in many stage and television shows from 1962 to 1973. For 11 years she juggled school and her career, as well as the responsibility of owning and operating two Royal Academy Ballet schools.
In 1973 she married Stephen (our current Mayor), and moved to Edmonton. Grant MacEwan College became Lynn’s home for the next 10 years, where she taught in both the Dance Department and the Musical Theatre Department. After retiring from teaching, Lynn enjoyed the opportunity of staying at home to raise two children. During those years, she spent a good deal of time volunteering in fundraising positions for various non-profit organizations.
Lynn was previously a director on the boards of The Support Network, Mile Zero Dance Company and the Alberta Ballet Company. Besides her work with the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, she currently sits as a director for the Edmonton Opera as well as acting on various committees for organizations such as Juvenile Diabetes, Art Gallery of Alberta, Kids with Cancer, ABC House and Garden Tour, Culinary Team Alberta, Youth Restorative Action Project (YRAP), Changing Together: A Place for Immigrant Women, Nina Haggerty, Hope Foundation, Eskimo Women's Dinner and Alberta Diabetes.
