Closing of Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation Clothing Bin Collection Sites
July 20, 2009
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Since 2004 the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation has offered a recycling program through the placement of clothing collection bins, found in approximately 50 locations in and around the Edmonton area. While this important service is of great value to the community, the program carries several challenges for our Foundation - one of which is the need for regular enforcement to ensure intended use.
As a healthcare charity dedicated to building passionate community support for the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Lois Hole Hospital for Women, C.K. Hui Heart Centre, and Centre for Orthopedic Surgery, we believe our efforts should be focused on our core charitable activities. Therefore, we have decided to discontinue our involvement in the collection of used clothing as of August 31, 2009.
It is our fervent hope that another charity, one better suited and aligned to this important industry, consider managing this venture and make it tenable.
Thank you, Edmonton and area, for your past participation in this green initiative. We hope your enthusiasm and support will continue if and when a new manager is identified.
Sincerely,
Andrew Otway
President and CEO
