History
Since opening its doors more than 100 years ago, the Royal Alexandra Hospital has benefited from the contributions of thousands of individuals and organizations in the community. The Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation was established in 1984 to focus community support on the Hospital's priority needs.
Although founded in 1984, the Foundation did not begin active fundraising until 1991. That year, the Foundation's first volunteer Board of Directors was appointed, who then hired two staff to manage fund-raising activities.
In its first year of fundraising, the Foundation raised $200,000. By 2002, the Foundation had raised more than $1.8 million. Amazingly, as of June, 2008 the Foundation has raised more than $30 million on behalf of the Hospital and its various initiatives of excellence.
