We're excited to announce that the Mental Health Foundation and the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation will receive $50,000 from the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) to support ACCESS Open Minds.
RBC's gift will fund a new Peer Parent Support Network for ACCESS Open Mind's Edmonton site. Peer support networks are increasingly being recognized as an essential component to care; they connect families and carers who are struggling with others who have lived through similar experiences.
Providing accessible mental health service for youth living across northern Alberta is a priority for both the Royal Alexandra Hospital and Mental Health Foundations.
Andrew Otway, CEO of the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation shared, "We are pleased to be partnering with the Mental Health Foundation to support ACCESS Open Minds. Together we endeavor to ensure that young patients receive the best mental healthcare services across the treatment spectrum—ranging from acute care in hospitals to outpatient care across the community—in a timely manner. RBC's generous contribution is the first milestone on our road toward system transformation for child and adolescent mental health. We are grateful for their support."
“RBC is deeply committed to supporting programs that help young people and their families access the right care at the right time. We are honored to stand behind programs like the Peer Parent Network at ACCESS Open Minds that enable youth and families to navigate the sometimes uncertain waters of mental health care and get the support they need.”
Steven Page and Mark Masri will be taking the stage, in addition to the talented John Cameron Orchestra, to celebrate mental health. In a continuation of efforts to bolster programming at ACCESS Open Minds, the Mental Health Foundation and the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation will be directing all money raised from Crescendo to the initiative.
On June 9, 2017 come out and help us make a difference in the lives of Edmonton's youth! For tickets or to learn more please visit crescendoyeg.com.
