Our Hospital, Our StoriesText4Hope expands to cancer and addictions support
Posted on: Jun 08, 2020Thanks to the support of the Mental Health Foundation, the Text4Hope program is proud to introduce its two new branches: Text4Hope-Addiction Support and Text4Hope-Cancer Care.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen Albertan’s pull together to help each other. In March 2020, Alberta Health Services teamed up with the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation, the Mental Health Foundation, the University Hospital Foundation, the Calgary Health Trust, and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation to ensure that Albertans were not only taking care of themselves physically but mentally as well through the creation of the Text4Hope app.
The creation of the Text4Hope program supports those struggling with their mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With a quick text, individuals are connected to receive a free, positive text message every day for three months to encourage the practice of healthy coping strategies.
To date, over 46,000 Albertans have been able to access this innovative tool, and now, it doesn’t stop at COVID-19 related stress and mental health.
Thanks to the support of the Mental Health Foundation, the Text4Hope program is proud to introduce its two new branches: Text4Hope-Addiction Support and Text4Hope-Cancer Care.
These new programs focus on providing support to those struggling with psychological difficulties that come from addiction or a cancer diagnosis while still social distancing during the pandemic.
The Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation would like to congratulate and thank the Mental Health Foundation for the investment they have made to make these new branches of support possible.
Albertans, whether struggling themselves or know someone who is, can sign up for any or all of these three programs.
